The Streets of Rosetia

Riding into town I felt that sense of calm satisfaction you get right before something breaks, blows up, or otherwise dooms you to the opposite of what you want. I arrived in the morning because again horses need rest and I wasn't really in a rush to get back to town (that and arriving at night tends to alert nearby authorities etc etc).  I banished any worries about Lorissia and Malcyr, because they are both adults and they don't need me hovering over them like some kind of watchful mother, the world does not no matter how much I pretend so, revolve around me!

Rosetia was sleepily waking up when I got there, the workers were heading off for their first shift moving boxes around, some kids were chasing after each playing tag or something else.  Trade caravans were arranging their pack animals, I nodded to a man I remember from my earlier career of letter writing, he waved back. I angled my horse to a local inn (not valrym's I didn't really need his sass that early in the morning).

"How long you going to be staying for?" Old guy probably been there his whole life, in a way I kind of respected the stability.

"A week, I need to finish up some business in town and then head south for much of the same." What business I had to finish? Well I hadn't figured that part out, but it sounded right.

"Lot of people doing that, hope there's not more trouble with Ronerawth." I hadn't heard of any more problems with the empire, but you never can tell with bad things, they come up as they do, "Take the room at the far end, if you need to stay longer just make sure to tell me or my wife she works the night shift." He handed me a rough key and pointed down the hallway behind him.  I thanked him and made way to the room, it was fairly simple, a hay bed with a small dresser next to it, a window looked out on the street and I could see the dust rising from the days work.

I laid down on the bed and set my meager gear and saddle bags beside it, I was glad to take a moment to rest before heading to Ronerawth, I knew sooner or later I should finish up business with the that gaggle of jerks before I saw Malcyr in his official capacity. I tell you, I consider myself a citizen of the empire (even to this day despite being officially banished), but they do not make it easy to love them.  Or tolerate them, kind of like family.
