I Feel Like I've Done This Before, Several Hundred Times

"We found it mopping up the spiders, at first we thought it was just another weird spider temple, but this is something else." The Detective was actually a Therod, which made sense, but damn it why do they all have to be involved in awful things. Like Therod's entire descendants seem wrapped up in various forms of law enforcement, and a lot of them have died tragically over the years. The detective was Luke Therod, mostly an orphan his family killed years ago during some kind of mob war. He didn't really go over it much other than to explain my name got passed around the old family tree as someone to come to if everything falls to shit and I'm your last resort. It was kind of sweet really that I made such an impact on at least one branch of her family.

"Just burn everything, its probably the lair of one of those death god things, entirely susceptible to fire." We were descending now, the air didn't smell foul like I assumed it would, which made my previous assumption probably incorrect.

"We found the remains of one those, but no that wasn't this. This is something entirely unique." I was amazed at how quickly they set up lights and such, until I realized the excavation wasn't done by them. They only found it, the spiders had been digging up the site well before Luke and crew stumbled upon it. We came out of a narrow passage into a bigger room that was bathed in light. The walls radiated it, it was hard to see from the darkened corridor leading up to it. In the center of the chamber was a stone made of a metal I'd never seen before covered in a language I couldn't discern.

"So Mr. Lorentino with your experience what do we have here." I stood there in the chamber of light running my hand over the language just taking it all in.

"I have literally no idea."
