It took a month before the shop area I had bought could be built. It was actually fairly fast compared to other reconstruction efforts I'd been apart of (quite a few at this point sadly, the world is constantly trying to kill itself). Mostly because Rolak was the site of most of the actual damage done during the revolution, and as such had most of the craftsman rushing out here to make a quick buck (can't blame them I mean I too ran out here to take advantage of the disadvantaged). I was running low on Fiz's ill gotten money by the time I got the shop up and running with enough silk and clothing options to appeal to hopefully a diverse customer base.
I'll admit I was a bit worried I'd made a horrible mistake. I mean I was kind of in a major shop area and other shops were going up near me, but its not like I was a well known tailorer, and despite my shops large sign out front advertising "Lorentino's Clothing and Curiosities" (the only curiosity I was currently selling was my own tales of adventure, sadly no one bought those), I worried no one would actually take me up on the offer. The exact opposite occured. Everyone took me up on the offer! My shop was flooded in a weeks time with people looking for clothing. I wasn't aware at the time, but during the battle all of the tailors had been killed, and no one had apparently thought to come out there (except for me of course) and take up residence. I was out of clothing supplies in my first week! I worked till my fingers bled and then kept going. I was thinking of looking for help, but had no time to actually do it! Between fittings, sewing, and retrofitting older clothes (not my prefered method, but with clothing supplies at a premium at the time I had to make due).
I loved it! I felt like a part of the community, adding a worth to something that had none. It was madness, but it was my madness. I also got to hear all about everyones issues, dislikes and general gossip while I worked (which helped a few times secure choice items before the other tailors who arrived a little later). Two months in my hands were marked up, but my coffers were overflowing! I even was able to finally get on top of orders to actually put up clothing just for general purchase. I was starting to feel like a regular citizen, and at the same time a dread gnawed at me like no other.
It was too good, something awful was bound to happen, and as it happend I was sadly right. If you're an astute reader you can probably guess what problem reared up its head to confront me once more, and no not Morley. Tomorrow the Asylum. Read at your own risk!
