Tolviar watched as the entry was added to her ship. She recalled Trezlan had a love for writing things, and apparently so did her madness. Then suddenly she was back in control. The other relinquished and his hallucination stood next to her. It was so fast she wondered if this was a new trick. The madness didn't speak, just let her readjust herself for a moment.
"So now you know." He was smug, very smug. Tolviar wanted to hit him, but since he was just a manifestation it would only end up hurting her.
"What? What do I know? That you can take control at will, that you are more dangerous than I expected? That you're a sadistic murderer." She was angry, very angry, she had lost control, but more so, she had lost what she thought control was.
"Sure sure, I'm all of those things, and not that you're all of those things. Its a nice fantasy you've built up in yourself. But you have to reconcile, I am not Trezlan, I am you. Sure I may have his tendencies at times, but in reality," The image faded and it became one Tolviar had never seen, but one Trezlan had a distinct memory, "Am you, and you are me, and at anytime when I feel you can't handle yourself I will take control because I like living more than I like preserving your little illusion you're in real control. Now Buck up sweet heart you get to go home again, for now." The madness winked and Tolviar felt her skin crawl.
She would have to have a conversation with Hanlon about what was going on, but she wasn't sure which one of them would actually be having that conversation. Still she was going home, and that was at least something, for however long it would last.
