On Emperors and Confict

"What do you know of the Emperor, Lorentino?" The lead follower, Brother Maristus was speaking.  We'd moved to the barracks for the Followers.  Maristus had the church be reinforced by his best people in preperation for the assault, I figured he'd let the women and children leave in the distraction, but saw they too were arming and getting ready for the assault; to the followers everyone is a fighter.

"A lot actually, well more and more everyday, but I know the layout of the palace, where weak points are, and a plan for assaulting and taking it." The ambassadors memories originally just an annoyance awash in my brain now were actually going to be useful.

"Are you some kind of revolutionary?" I could see Maristus was a bit leery of my information, I would be if someone who caused me troubles suddenly started talking about plans for taking down the empire.

"I knew one in a manor of speaking, I could tell you the details, but I can't recall the followers stance with regards to certain magics." Maristus had provided me some cigars at a request (if I'm going out, I'm going out like a champ) he smiled and lit his own cigar.  The room we were in was pretty dark, lit by only one lamp, a small bookshelf was next to a couple padded chairs, there was one window with a couple rifles next to it.

"I see, so you're a necromancer."

"Damn does everyone know about us or something? Was there an uprising while I was gone?"

"No, but there was once a Follower who hung out with one a while ago, when she passed her journal was given to our church, in it she went over your peoples practices and abilities." I had to wonder if Lorissia ever committed my name to the journal, I'm guessing not or Maristus would know that necromancer was me.

"Yes I'm a necromancer, I was originally living far up north but was brought south to look in the mind of a rebel traitor, an Ambassador of some renown.  Upon doing that I was imprisoned and then sent to search the sewers which through a series of unfortunate accidents brought me to you."

"You say unfortunate accidents I say divine intervention." The religious always willing to accept the hand of a god in their daily life.

"I thought the Fire God only aided in conflict."

"And did you not bring a glorious conflict to us? Indeed, you also bring with you the means of deposing a tyrant who imposes his will not through good policy, but one of thievery and murder.  The Fire God brought you here to destroy this Emperor and through a glorious conflict.  You may not worship her, but you must believe!" I was about to offer a reply when gunfire sounded out below, the battle had been joined and Maristus and I were about to be thrust in it.  The time for talking had sadly come to a close.
