A Puzzle Wrapped In Danger

You have no allies, you are alone even among friends, as an operative you must remember the only thing that matters is the mission. - Imperial Guard Field Manual

A word on Morley, never trust him or his progeny, they are all fruit from the same poisoned tree. I'd say don't trust me, but who else can you trust if not your guide to this foreign land. - Chronicles of Lorentino

"Leave us gentleman." Aldis Morley was a fat man with a sheen of sweat on his face. Rolando felt revulsion upon seeing him. His office was dimly lit, and it felt all too small. Rolando was like a feed creature being tossed in with a predator, he wanted so badly to shift out of the room. The mission demanded he stay, and so he did.

"If you wanted to see me sir you could have just asked when I was at work."

"You can lie to everyone else Mr. Whoeveryouare, but lying to me is insulting. I know you aren't Delorey, whoever did you up is good, but they missed something you probably don't disclose that often, you have an intricate set of runes on your bones. Must have been agonizing to acquire, but they let me know you have a connection I so want to know more about." Rolando cursed himself for forgetting his fathers handy work, the necromancy runes that helped keep him alive, may have doomed him.

"A connection?"

"I had to ask my father, I hate doing that, we don't get along under the best of circumstances and asking for his help is pure awful. But he told me that the runes are of a necromancy he hadn't ever seen practiced and knew of only one other person who even knew of it let along would be crazy enough to use it." Rolando cursed again, his father had definitely doomed him now.

"And that person is?"

"Do you really want me to draw this out? Why don't you just tell me why Trezlan is finally getting around to coming after us."

"He's not, he doesn't even know I'm here." Rolando had to come up with something fast. He didn't want to admit he was the son of Trezlan, on top of being the Morley's enemy he was a shifter, which has always been something the corporations love to study. The first parts of space travel were discovered by analyzing shifters or so the rumors went.

"And if not him than who do you work for?"

"Myself, I used a competitor to get in here because I have a grudge, there I want to kill your father." It was a desperation plea, the worst kind of lie that could be disastrous.

"You do? Well well well, that is intriguing." Aldis punched some buttons on a console and the Rolando heard locks rack home in the room. "And how do you propose doing that?"
