Never instigate a fight. These will either show you too competent to be who you are, or not competent enough. -Imperial Guard field manual.
I've never been in a fight I didn't intend on winning, which is not to say I won every fight, just saying I intended on winning prior to the conflict happening. - Chronicles of Lorentino
When they came for Rolando it was in the morning. He had known they would, he couldn't have pissed off that many people and expected to get away with it. He just was upset it ruined his morning. In all there were five of them, three of the people from the baby sitting, and two other guys he just rubbed the wrong way. They brute forced their way into his small apartment, not even bothering with an electronic lock pick. He was waiting, Rolando much like his father didn't sleep much, so he heard the commotion long before they got in.
"You'll be paying for that door right?" Not the best line he could come up with, but he thought it sounded dismissive enough to persuade them not to carry through on the rest of what they planned. If the line failed the pistol he was pointing at them was his next resort.
"Delorey why can't you just take this beating like a man." They were wearing masks, but he knew from body type generally who they were. Tral was the man who spoke first, he had a way of talking that spoke too many cigarettes.
"Because I'm not a man, now leave my apartment before I call the authorities to report a shooting." Tral came forward and Rolando put a bullet through his shoulder that also hit the man behind him in the upper abdomen. The gun shot was loud, Rolando couldn't really hear very well from the ringing, but the body language of the attackers showed they were surprised he'd fired on them. The authorities would be on the way they knew, so they beat a hasty retreat taking their wounded with them. Rolando waited for the police and tried to think of something to tell Nihls that would result in his nasally whining.
