If you have read this far, you are either being punished or you hope to find a secret, you will be disappointed. - Imperial Field Guard Manual
I don't like endings, they feel so final, I prefer leaving things in the air, that way you don't know if you are truly done or not. -Chronicles of Lorentino
Impossible. That's what kept occurring to Aldis as his computer consoles kept winking out. His men were reporting whoever it was that was carving up his facility, but the reports were insane. They claimed it was Delorey who was dead, and that he was simultaneously all over the entire building or no where. He had been sending troops everywhere he could, but could only watch in horror as the men themselves were killed or stopped reporting. Aldis already had tried to send a distress signal, but no one was receiving that either.
Whoever this was, it wasn't Delorey. Aldis knew that much. Delorey the real one was a shit worker who barely was passable at all work. Morlatech had used his services twice and found him wanting. It was the one thing that flagged him applying for regular work as clearly not the real one. But whoever this was, he was vicious and uncompromising, Aldis had sensed he worked with Trezlan, now he was beginning to suspect he was Trezlan.
"Aldis Morley." And then he was inside the room, he was covered in blood, clothing was tattered, and he had a look in his eye that was beyond madness right into borderline corruption. Aldis for the first time in hundreds of years felt his blood go cold.
"Delorey, or whatever you call yourself." He tried to feign not caring, but he did care, he cared very much.
"Lorentino."
"I figured as much, only you could be this stupid." Aldis pressed a button and an energy shield emerged around him. Lorentino fired shots at it, but they just bounced harmlessly off. "Only something organic could get through this shield, so unless you want to piss on me to death, you're defeated Trezlan, even your magic and necromancy can not get through, eventually my father will send assistance, and you'll be dead." Rolando laughed slightly at Aldis, trapping himself in his tiny office, sweat dripping down his face.
"Its funny you think I'm Trezlan, and he would probably be defeated by your little shield." Rolando took up his bone knife and threw it as hard as his hate would allow. Aldis watched in terror as the weapon slipped through his shield and drove itself into his neck, before he could react Rolando was gripping the knife and plunging in deeper into his neck. "Rolando Lorentino, the shifter." Aldis tried to come up with a necromantic spell, his life force spilling on to his desk, but Rolando and the weapon were gone by the time he was halfway there. The wound so severe he couldn't even call for help.
