You'll Forgive Me For Being Me

Shelter should be the first thing you secure when you're in the cold, food and water can wait. -Imperial Field Guard Manual

First thing I do when I'm lost is just burn some stuff, it doesn't actually do anything, but seeing something familiar is calming. - The Chronicles of Lorentino

"I have to wonder how exactly long have you been out here?" Rolando was surprised to see someone in the wilderness, but not surprised it was Hanlon the death god. It seemed he had more interest in the Lorentino's than anyone else in the entire galaxy.

"Three days, I think." Rolando had fashioned a shack of animal bones it was, even to the death god, fairly alarming.

"And you managed to cobble together a shack of bones from things you killed? If I ever had doubt you were the son of Trezlan this would erase it."

"So you're here to save me yes? Tired, and hungry, so hungry the animals here are not good food." Rolando was also wearing the skin of something, Hanlon wanted to ask how he'd killed creatures without a weapon, but he didn't want to ask because some things were best left to not knowing, even for a god.

"No not originally, I was more concerned with where you were and what you were doing here, omnipotence apparently has its limits." Limits Hanlon felt maddening, he didn't even know he had them until recently, which was worrying in so many ways.

"Well now that you're her..." And then he was gone. Rolando suddenly understood why Trezlan always lamented Hanlon was good for something until he wasn't. Still it was nice to know he wasn't crazy yet, though he did worry if Hanlon was just a hallucination, and if 3 days had actually been 3 months. But mostly he worried that winter was coming and his shelter was not ready. The shelter helped keep the sanity mostly in check. Mostly.
