I'll admit joining the imperial army to crush Garret's rebels was probably one of my stupider plans. Like on a scale of one to really stupid, this one was pretty high on the stupid scale. The imperial army (the country doesn't really matter it was an imperial army, they aren't even around anymore) was brutal. I mean there was a good reason they had rebellions against them. And yet because of my stupid foolish pride there I was signing up to fight against the aggressors (you might be wondering how someone not born of their soil could sign up for the imperial army? They weren't picky, another not so great sign of how their military functioned.
I attempted to get at least promoted above the basic grunt with my knowledge and magical ability, but alas the imperial army cared more about numbers than ability. So I got folded in with new recruits. My unit was seemingly made up of people who shouldn't have been fighting anything. All old men, out of shape people, and young men who got conscripted. It was enough to make me think the recruiter who processed my paperwork did not think very highly of me as a soldier.
The unit as I was told would be serving on the front line, the front line of where I have no idea, but we were destined to be on the front lines.I had to tell you I didn't feel very comfortable with the people I'd joined up with. Most of them could barely hold a rifle let alone shoot one, and we had all of a weeks worth of training before we were loaded up on a flat bed truck and sent off to the war. Turns out my fears were completely unreasonable and everything worked out fine!
Yeah no.
