With some money in my pocket and no other direction I decided it was best to visit the Capitol of the Red Hand lands. Partly because I figured there was money to be had, and partly because I'd never seen it, also partly because I figured I'd be safe in a place like the capitol of a big scary mage empire (because I'm an idiot you see). Thankfully I had the spiderman interrogators memories of how to get the hell out of where I was (I'd lost the map to find the mine along the way, and I was also in a different place than I originally arived anyway). Leading my mini caravan out of the narrow gulch I found myself in was trying (mainly because I'm at best a passable rider and never had to lead a second pack animal), but after cursing most of the morning away I got myself on the way to a major road and for the trek to the Capitol.
The Capitol of the Red Hand areas (and later The Guard) was Zorn (the Red Hand weren't big on naming their cities something grand). Zorn was a city set in a valley, surrounded by mountains. There was a large moat/lake that surrounded the city so the only way to get access was by boat (they built no bridge across, still haven't, as its part of the cities defenses to be inaccessible). In the center of Zorn is a tower that reaches as high as the mountains that surround it (constructed by magic, no current construction technique could make a tower that tall/sustain it). The tower is the seat of power in Zorn and where the government meets (it had no name other than The Tower of Zorn), it's also where their most powerful weapon was kept (I say was because well its no longer standing, I've heard talks of rebuilding it, but the Guard really is hesitant to employ the same techniques of construction). The weapon was some kind of sun redirecting device with mirrors and magic. Basically it could call down a beam of light and annihilate enemies before they even got close to the city (you could see why destroying it was important in the rebellion).
Unfortunately for me I was quite far from Zorn when I set out and the journey was long and boring. I passed time talking to my horses (after I examined them to make sure they weren't freakish demons, I mean they had been sumoned from no where). I don't know if they liked the sound of my voice but I didn't hear any complaints. We discussed politics even, it was great I got all my points in they chewed grass, it was the best conversation I never had with anyone else. As I laid down for a night of rest I thought that maybe things were looking up. Oh to be so naive again.
